How to Organize Your Lures

Have you ever wondered how to organize your lures? You probably have more tackle than you could ever need. This makes it hard to find what you want at the last minute. Being disorganized is never a good idea, so use this guide to organize your lures and tackle in a convenient way.

  1. First: Look for Plano utility boxes

Plano boxes are great because you see what is in them in an instant. Keep similar baits in the same box. For example, some fishermen keep all of their freshwater lures in one box and all of their saltwater lures in another. Organize them by size within the box.

  2. Second: Remove the skirts and blades

Remove skirts and blades to prevent your lures from getting tangled in the box. Store them in a separate box or compartment so you do not worry about them getting tangled or attached.

  3. Third: Put all rigging materials in one place

Put everything you need for a specific rig in a box labeled with the name of that rig. This way, when you go to assemble a rig, your hook, swivel and sinkers are all in the same place. Sort them into separate compartments if you have the space.

  4. Fourth: Buy several kinds of boxes

Using the same box for all of your lures makes it hard to tell the difference between them. The Plano company makes so many sizes and styles of boxes that it is easy to get organized quickly. Take inventory of what you have and choose the boxes that fit your tackle best.
