How to Tie a Fishing Lure

Use this guide to learn how to tie a fishing lure and get off to a good start the next time you go fishing. Fishing is a fun sport that is enjoyed at any age in life. Before you set out on your next fishing trip, take advantage of learning a new skill that makes fishing a lot easier. Tying a lure looks harder than it is. Follow these simple steps for help.

  1. First: Method one

Start by pushing the thread through the eye of the hook two times. Next, wrap the end of the line back around the line four to six times. This secures the loop. Pass the end back through the loop and pull it tight. Moisten the line to get it even tighter.

  2. Second: Method two

Place the end of the line through the eye of the hook and make an overhand knot. Put the hook through the knot and pull the string tight before clipping it short.

  3. Third: Helpful tips

Using a snap-swivel is a lot of help and makes the job easier for beginners. It also helps the lure move more freely and swivel about on the end of the line better. The hooks are sharp, so keep them away from your eyes or skin. Using scissors to cut the line is tough, so try using nail clippers. Keep your fishing license with you at all times so you avoid any run-ins with wildlife fish and game or park rangers!
